I was born in Shreveport, Louisiana in 1977. After graduating from high school, I attended Brown University, where I was elected to Phi Beta Kappa in 1997. While completing my undergraduate degree, I worked as a mathematical modeler in the Division of Neuropsychiatry at the Walter Reed Army Institute of Research. In 2001, I received an Sc.B. in Mathematics and Computer Science, with Honors, from Brown. I entered the Computer Science Ph.D. program at the Georgia Institute of Technology, where I was advised by Jarek Rossignac, and I graduated in 2012.
